A man sees shadows in a creepy forest. He gradually feels uneasy in the forest as he walks. Some of the shadows look like people, and some of the shadows look like animals. The man begins to feel like he is being watched and starts to run. As he runs, he hears strange noises and feels like something is following him. He realizes that some of the trees seem vaguely familiar, as if he is running in circles. As he realizes this, he also notices that the shadows are getting closer and closer to him. The man finds himself in a clearing, and the shadows surround him. The shadows start to close in on him, and he can't escape. As he's coming to terms with his demise, he notices a gap in the shadows and bolts for it. He makes it through the opening and runs in as straight a line as he can manage. He notices the trees thinning out and can see the full moon's light fighting through the canopy. With this illumination, the man notices that the shadows absorb the moonlight as if they were made of darkness. The man then understands that the shadows are not of this world and that he is not long for this world either. He breaks through the edge of the forest into a field. He keeps running for a few more seconds but notices that the shadows are no longer following him. Panting, the man looks back at the dark forest and sees the shadows standing at the edge of the woods, watching him. With a prickling sensation running down his neck, the man turns back to the field, looking for any lights indicating a town may be nearby. The man breathes a sigh of relief when he can see a collection of houses off in the distance, windows aglow with light. The man knows he is safe now but will never forget his experience in the dark forest.
